Our silk square combines elements from two striking British textiles in The Met collection: a piece of lavishly embroidered wool made in the early 18th century; and a piece of roller-printed cotton (ca. 1833) produced by the Bannister Hall print works, a leading 19th-century maker of chintz for home furnishings.
This exclusive floral design was created for The Met in celebration of the 2020 reopening of the Museum's galleries of British decorative arts and sculpture.
